Living with Pain support

getUBetter, a digital self-management support platform for all common musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and conditions and women’s health, has launched their new Living with Pain add-on. – An evidence-based and locally configured support pathway for patients living with persistent pain.

The new add-on provides comprehensive behavioural change content relating to all aspects of life that are likely to be impacted by persistent pain. It contains targeted support to help manage pain holistically, with content changing depending on how a person is feeling. Personal video stories are a new addition which offers a valuable insight into the lived experience of navigating pain. They describe techniques and tools that helped people overcome challenges along their pain self-management journey.

In England, 16 million people have persistent pain. 1 in 10 live with high-impact persistent pain affecting their ability to take part in daily activities, including work. Once locally configured, the Living with Pain support is available to everyone across the population. It’s accessible 24/7, at any point on the pain pathway.

“Our aim is to ensure that people living with persistent pain have access to evidence-based, safe, and local guidance and advice, and feel supported at home and work” – said Carey McClellan, getUBetter’s Founder and CEO.  “Living with Pain pathway offers tailored support to everyone, whether they are reaching out for help for the first time or are already on a waiting list” – he added.

Local configuration of the pathway allows for safe navigation of patients. Access to local and national services specific to pain management enhances the patient journey.

“We work closely with our customers to configure the app to meet the needs of local pathways, demographics, and patients” – said Jenny McCullough, getUBetter’s Chief Clinical Officer. “To help safety net patients throughout a local pain pathway, we tailor screening questionnaires, stratification tools and outcome measures to an organisation.”

Living with Pain can be purchased alongside getUBetter’s digital self-management for all common MSK conditions or the women’s health support.

getUBetter now supports 40% of the NHS in England. The platform is available across 17 integrated care systems (ICSs) to a total eligible population of over 20 million people. It has been proven to reduce the need for prescriptions, follow-up appointments, referrals, and physiotherapy waiting lists, therefore helping to reduce inefficiencies and costs to the healthcare system.  getUBetter has recently been approved by NICE for use in the NHS for non-specific low back pain.
