getUBetter Launches Their New Pelvic Pain Support Module
getUBetter, a leading digital self-management platform for women’s pelvic health support, has expanded the scope of its offering to include a new support module for women experiencing ongoing pelvic pain. getUBetter users will be able to access comprehensive guidance on pelvic pain, addressing common causes, patient concerns, and self-management strategies.
Pelvic pain is common symptom with many possible causes. It affects 1 in 6 women in the UK, often impacting daily activities such as work, sleep, and physical activity. Despite that, many patients find it difficult to talk about, leading to a delay in seeking help. Navigating the healthcare system for pelvic pain can be frustrating. Women often consult multiple healthcare professionals without gaining a full understanding of what the problem is, their treatment options, or self-management techniques they can use to improve symptoms.
The new pelvic pain support module addresses these challenges by providing:
- Information on Common Causes: The module offers insights into various causes of pelvic pain, including endometriosis, ovarian cysts, IBS, recurrent urinary tract infections, post-operative pain, and more.
- Guidance on Patient Concerns: Users can access answers to frequently asked questions, such as whether to seek professional help, what to expect at medical appointments, how to prepare, and available treatment options.
- Self-Management Strategies: The module emphasises lifestyle changes, emotional support, physical activity, and complementary therapies that can help alleviate symptoms.
- Signposting to Screening and Local Services: For symptoms of concern, the app directs users to locally configured safety netting questionnaires, which will direct them to the care they need. It also provides links to relevant local services and national resources for additional support.
The launch of the new pelvic pain support module reflects our commitment to addressing significant healthcare gaps and empowering women through education and self-management techniques” – said Louise Coates, getUBetter’s Product Manager. “By simplifying access to local, evidence-based information and resources we can improve patient outcomes and enhance quality of life for women dealing with pelvic pain” – she added.
Women can access the pelvic pain support by downloading the getUBetter app and selecting from the following options that are configured to their local pelvic floor pathway and services:
-
- Pelvic health
- Pelvic health after birth
The new addition compliments the existing targeted support, which include conditions such as prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder. getUBetter is in the process of developing targeted support for menstruation and menopause. The two modules will complete the comprehensive women’s pelvic health offering by supporting women across their whole life course.
